Self Priming Pumps
A self priming pump is a centrifugal pump that uses an air and water mixture to create a completely primed pumping state. This type of pump can be used in various applications, which include dirty water and chemical uses.
They work by drawing air into the pump by creating negative pressure through the movement of the impeller. Liquid is then mixed with the air. This process takes place in the casing, and for it to work there needs to be fluid present in the casing area. This is crucial: if there is no water then the priming process cannot take place, and damage can be caused to the seal, causing the whole pump to break.
There are many uses for self priming pumps. These include the transfer of clean, dirty and muddy waters, the pumping of corrosive and waste water, and loading and unloading in naval applications.
In agriculture, the pump can be used for surface irrigation, the transfer and spraying of fertilisers, the transfer of must and washing, and as a general water pressure booster. Our range is extensive, and includes various options in power, volume capacity and gear pump levels.
